Kozma Orsi színésznőnek készült, mielőtt elismert énekesnővé vált. Így magától értődő könnyedséggel bújik olyan előadók bőrébe, akiknek a pályáján szintén egyaránt fontos e kétféle színpadi létforma. Épp öt évvel ezelőtt mutatta be a Fesztivál Színházban Woody és a swing című produkcióját nagy sikerrel, most pedig az idén nyolcvanéves Barbra Streisand karakterét idézi meg, amiben saját zenekara mellett a veszprémi Mendelssohn Kamarazenekar és Szabó Kimmel Tamás színművész lesz segítségére.
Barbra Streisand kis jazzklubokban kezdte immár hetedik évtizede tartó páratlan karrierjét. Dolgozott Benny Goodman zenekarával és énekelt Miles Davis előtt a Village Vanguard apró pódiumán. Innen indult a világhír felé. „Énekes színésznő”, mondta magáról mindig, és bár többnyire elsőbbséget adott a színészi munkának, folyamatosan készített lemezeket. Popzenei sikerei mellett mindvégig megmaradt Leonard Bernstein, Michel Legrand és Stephen Sondheim dalai ihletett tolmácsolójának, és időről időre visszatért a jazz világába. Az utóbbi idők egyik legsikeresebb albumát Diana Krall zenei vezetésével és közreműködésével készítette, valamint újra fellépett a Village Vanguardban. Kozma Orsit és muzsikustársait ez az állandó zenei párbeszéd vonzotta leginkább, amikor megfogalmazták szándékukat, hogy a nagy előadó repertoárját a jazz irányából közelítik meg. Az esten elhangzanak a legnagyobb slágerek és a korai ritkaságok éppúgy, mint a legendás partnerekkel előadott duettek – ezekben a sztárvendég, Szabó Kimmel Tamás működik közre. Streisand utánozhatatlan – éppen ezért nem is cél az utánzás: Kozma Orsi zenei egyéniségére szabva, saját értelmezésben tárja elénk a bámulatos énekesnő dalainak legjobbjait.

Before become a noted singer, Orsi Kozma trained as an actress. Which means she is able to effortlessly take on the guise of other performers for whom these two forms of stage life are equally important in their career. It was five years ago that Kozma debuted her Swinging Woody show at the Festival Theatre to great acclaim. Now, in addition to her own band, she has enlisted the help of the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra from Veszprém and the actor Tamás Szabó Kimmel to pay tribute to the personality of Barbra Streisand, who turned 80 this year.
Barbra Streisand began her unparalleled career – now in its seventh decade – in cramped jazz clubs. She worked with Benny Goodman’s band and also opened for Miles Davis on the tiny stage of the Village Vanguard. It was from here that she set off on her path to global fame. Streisand has always referred to herself as a „singing actress”, and although she has prioritised her acting career, she has continued to make records on a regular basis. In addition to her pop music successes, she has remained a faithful interpreter of the songs of Leonard Bernstein, Michel Legrand and Stephen Sondheim, and has also returned to the world of jazz from time to time. She made one of her most successful albums in recent years under the musical direction and contribution of Diana Krall, and also returned to perform at the Village Vanguard. Orsi Kozma and her bandmates were particularly attracted by this constant musical dialogue after deciding to focus on the jazz aspect of Streisand’s impressive performance repertoire. This evening, they will perform Streisand’s greatest hits and early rarities, as well as her duets performed with legendary partners – with the able assistance of star guest Tamás Szabó Kimmel. Streisand is utterly peerless – which is why the goal here is not to imitate. Instead, Orsi Kozma will present us a personal interpretation of the finest songs from this marvellous singer, tailored to her own individual musical nature.
