Herzl 160 – Herzl’s Heritage in Hungary, a roundtable discussion
The dreamer of modern Israel, Theodor Herzl was born 160 years ago this year. During this roundtable we will discuss his influence on the Jewish community today. What lives on of his Zionism in the blooming, largest Jewish community of Central Europe? What challenges and opportunities define contemporary Jewish life in Hungary today? The discussion will moderated by Rabbi Michael Paley (Scholar in Residence and Director, Jewish Resource Center of the UJA-Federation of New York) and will feature Zsolt Csepregi (Deputy Director for International Affairs, Antall József Knowledge Centre), Zsuzsa Toronyi (Director, Hungarian Jewish Museum and Archives) and Gréta Süveges (Judaism instructor, Lauder Javne School).
The program is in English and is realized through the cooperation of JCC Budapest, Junction Europe and the Shapiro Silverberg AJC Central Europe Office.
