Az előadás azt az alapkérdést boncolgatja, hogy miért alkalmatlan a „nyugati” eszköztár a közel-keleti válság megértésére, és hogy milyen következtetésre juthatunk, ha a régiót a saját belső fogalmai szerint póbáljuk megérteni. Az utóbbi alapjaira építve fog Robert alternatív megoldást javasolni az izraeli-palesztin 100 éves háború lezárására.

Dr. Robert C. Castel (Captain – res; Superintendent, Israel Police – ret)
Roby has served in the IDF for nearly 30 years. A paratrooper and a captain in military intelligence, he is a decorated combat veteran, having served in Lebanon and several other areas of operation. He serves in one of the IDF’s elite reserve counter-terrorist units. A senior law enforcement official with a background in special operations, he is Chief Security Officer at the Israel National Parks Authority. Roby is a research fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI), with research interests in asymmetric warfare, terrorism, and military innovation. He authored the award-winning study The Cyberterrorist’s Manual for the Internet (1996, IICC), and his book When Innovation Failed was published in 2017. He was the research assistant to Adm. (ret) Ami Ayalon, former Head of the General Security Service (Shin Bet). Widely recognized as an authority in the development of creativity and innovation in the operational environment, Roby has taught at the IDF Staff College, the Israel Police Bomb Disposal Department, and Israeli Aircraft Industries. Roby has a PhD in International Relations from the University of Haifa, and a post-doctorate from the Herzl Institute and the IDI.
