Minden érdeklődőt szeretettel várunk, ünnepeljük közösen a 70 éves Izraelt!

Israel 70: Let us celebrate by planting trees in Jerusalem

One people, one heart!

“If you have a sapling in your hand and someone tells you the Messiah has arrived, first plant the sapling and then go out to welcome the Messiah.” (Talmud)

In 20th century not many examples have the world experienced of a rebirth of an ancient country and return of an ancient people into the land of their ancestors. 70 year ago an old-new country stepped into the world history which has changed the life of each and every Jews in the world.

Hence – in the spirit of the Talmudic traditions – for the occasion of the birthday of 70 years old State of Israel this year, in hope of the new and long-lasting life we will plant 70 pieces of saplings. Thirty-five of them will be planted in Israel on 22nd March and an additional thirty-five will be planted in Szent István Park in Budapest on 6th May. For centuries these will symbolize the bounds between the Jewish people in Israel and in the diaspora.

One people, one heart.

Our Israeli partners are the Embassy of Hungary in Israel and the journal Új Kelet.

The trees will bond the sky with the earth and past with future due to their long lasting life and tenacious standstill; they are the remembrance and they are the future.

We kindly ask our Israeli fellow-citizens to come and plant a sapling, just as the Talmud is asking all of us, on 22nd March (Thursday) at 12:30 in the Tzora-forest near Jerusalem.

The Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary (MAZSIHISZ) is the initiator of the event. The ceremonial tree-planting will be organized by the Keren Kayemet LeYisrael.

Our cooperative partners are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and the Memorial Museum of Hungarian Speaking Jewry, Safed.

Please write us to the [email protected] email-address.

All interested are welcome.

Let us celebrate the 70 years old Israel!
