The KHAT (YE/IL) ~ Pontoon
Jemeni-izraeli tradicionális népzene érkezik a folyópartra, házi készítésű hangszerekkel (bicikli, serpenyő), arab és héber nyelven.
A ‘Khat’ nevű cserje egyébiránt a jemeni kultúra szimbóluma, egy olyan stimuláns, ami izgalmat és eufóriát vált ki a fogyasztójából. Ilyen hatást várunk a koncerttől is, egyszóval csupa izgalom kedd este a Pontoon-on!

El KHAT הגת القات brings the style of Yemeni folk music from the ’50’s to ’70’s heard from Sana’a to Ta’izz to life. Keeping an air of the traditional, tribal singing, modern arrangements are sung in Hebrew and Arabic and banged out on hand made instruments such as Sauce-pans strung up and amplified, a bass made out of bicycle, electric and fervent performances. KHAT is the plant that grows across Yemen and chewed in social gatherings and celebrations for its intoxicating effect, a controversial symbol of Yemenite culture as a stimulant and addictive. The band presents an innovation to poverty through the ready-made instruments and high energy sounds that carry an ecstatic groove, creating a mixed illustration of the challenges of day to day life in Yemen with a joy and uplifting spirit of celebration.
