Machines | KONTRA ⨳ Auróra dokufilmklub
A Kontra csapata, hazai és nemzetközi dokumentumfilmeket hoz el minden hónap első hétfőjén az Auróra nagytermébe. Célunk, hogy a választott társadalmi, politikai vagy ökológiai tematikájú filmek párbeszédet indítsanak a nézőkkel.

Egy hatalmas és zavarba ejtő gépezet folyosóin és belsejében mozogva a kamera a nézőt a fizikai munka és az intenzív nehézségek embertelen helyére vezeti. Ez a gigantikus textilgyár az indiai Gudzsarátban akár a 21. századi Dante poklának díszlete is lehetne. A rendező, Rahul Jain elgondolkodtató, mégis bensőséges ábrázolásában megfigyeli a munkások életét, a szenvedést és azt a környezetet, amelyből nem tudnak kiszabadulni. Erős vizuális nyelvezettel, emlékezetes képekkel és a munkások gondosan kiválasztott interjúival Jain az egyenlőtlenségről, az elnyomásról és a gazdagok és szegények közötti hatalmas szakadékról, valamint mindkettő perspektíváiról mesél.

A vetítés után Csurgó Dénessel, a 444 újságírójával fogunk beszélgetni a filmben felmerülő témákról, problémákról.

As a result of a collaboration between Kontra and Auróra we’re launching a monthly film circle in 2022, on every first Monday of the month at the gallery space of Auróra cultural hub. In this screening series Kontra’s curators are selecting national and international documentaries all with a strong social, political and ecological theme and with the aim of generating a debate with the audience.

Moving through the corridors and bowels of an enormous and disorientating structure, the camera takes the viewer on a descent down to a dehumanized place of physical labor and intense hardship. This gigantic textile factory in Gujarat, India might just as well be the decorum for a 21st century Dante’s Inferno. In his mind-provoking yet intimate portrayal, director Rahul Jain observes the life of the workers, the suffering and the environment they can hardly escape from. With strong visual language, memorable images and carefully selected interviews of the workers themselves, Jain tells a story of inequality, oppression and the huge divide between rich, poor and the perspectives of both.
The film will be screened with English subtitles.
