Emlékezzünk vagy újjászülessünk? Beszélgetés az emlékezés kultúrájáról.
Emlékezhetünk-e többféleképpen a múltra? És vajon különbözik-e a zsidó és a nem zsidó narratíva az emlékezésben?
A zsidó narratíva szempontjából érdekes látni, hogy a fiatalabb nemzedék egyre kevésbé akarja, hogy a holokauszttal azonosítsák. A nem zsidók számára pedig sok minden mást is jelent az emlékezés – miért kell a holokausztnak különleges helyet foglalnia az emlékezés kultúrájában? A nem-zsidók számára fontosabb, hogy emlékezzenek a sötét múltra, vagy hogy „újjászülessenek” a szörnyű emlék nélkül?

Remember or rebuild? A discussion on the culture of remembrance
Can we remember the past in different ways? And do Jewish and non-Jewish narratives in remembering issues differ?
Concerning the Jewish narrative, it is interesting to see how the younger generation wants to be less and less associated with the Holocaust. For non Jews, the same issue can mean a wide range of questions – why should Holocaust remembrance have a special place in the culture of remembrance in every society? Is it more important for non-Jews to remember this dark past, or is it an appeal to “make things right” and to encourage Jewish revival?
Participants:
Patrick Siegele, born in 1974, studied German philology and musicology in Austria and Great Britain. Since June 2021, Patrick Siegele has been Managing Director of erinnern.at and Head of Division for National and International Remembrance Culture at the OeAD – Agency for Education and Internationalisation. He is a member of the Austrian delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance – IHRA.
Moritz Wein, born in 1988, studied political science and conflict studies in Austria, France and Germany. He is desk officer for Holocaust education at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. In his previous positon, he served as deputy director of erinnern.at, the Holocaust Education Institute of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. He is a member of the Austrian delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance – IHRA.
