Glimpses of Jewish life in three colours
Painting exhibition by Mihály Kós
A collection of india ink paintings of the artist using only two basic colours, black and yellow which together with the white background of the paper form a vibrant picture of everyday Jewish life as well as the moving and manyfold festivals. The object of these paintings is reflecting images from the past and depicting the continuation of an ancient tradition.
Mihály Kós is a Hungarian artist who started studying Art in India where he won the Shankar Painting Competition at the age of 13. Since then he has been continuously painting and drawing. Numerous exhibitions had marked his career in Hungary and his illustrations can be found in many journals, newspapers and books.
Sharing the experiences of many other second generation holocaust survivors the aim of this exhibition is to show the audience glimpses of Jewish life that were untold to him by his parents who were unable to speak about their past.
